Vogue Summer Program: Fashion Business is an accredited four-week summer program designed to introduce undergraduate-level students to the business of fashion. This course offers an immersive experience, delving into key aspects of the industry, and culminating in a final project in which you’ll apply your newly acquired skills and expertise.

 

You will explore the essential components of running a successful fashion business, from brand development and marketing strategies to operational management and entrepreneurship. The course delves into brand strategy, teaching you how to create and sustain a strong brand identity in a competitive market. You’ll also gain hands-on experience in marketing and promotional strategies tailored to the fashion industry, learning how to effectively use digital and traditional channels to reach and engage your audience.

The curriculum includes practical workshops, interactive case studies, and guest lectures from industry leaders, including professionals from Vogue and other Condé Nast brands. You will complete a team project in the form of a business proposal for Vogue that you will present at the end of the course. These experiences are designed to enhance your understanding and provide you with the skills needed to navigate the fashion business landscape successfully.

The program’s practical focus ensures that you not only learn key concepts but also apply them through collaborative projects and real-world scenarios. Alongside this, you will create practical examples of work as a way to demonstrate learned skills. This hands-on approach will prepare you for a successful career in the fashion industry, providing a solid foundation in business practices and strategic thinking.

Modules

This four-week program provides a focused yet extensive introduction to the fashion business.

Week 1: Foundations of Fashion Business

The first week introduces students to London as one of the world’s most influential fashion capitals, examining how history, culture and creative industries intersect to shape its fashion ecosystem. Students will explore London’s fashion ecosystem through themes such as the impact of British heritage, subcultures, immigration and textiles on the evolution of fashion business in the UK. Emphasis is placed on understanding London’s role as a global hub for innovation, media and design.

Week 2: Luxury, Retail, and Consumer Behavior

Students will explore the dynamics of luxury fashion, heritage brands and retail innovation in the British context. The week examines how consumer behavior, storytelling and experiential retail drive brand value and long-term growth. London’s iconic luxury districts and heritage brands serve as real-world case studies for understanding how tradition and modernity coexist in luxury business.

Week 3: Fashion Storytelling and Media Strategies

Week 3 focuses on building proficiencies in editorial storytelling, styling and media strategies. Seminars focus on the power of storytelling in fashion, exploring how media, imagery and editorial strategies shape brand identity and consumer desire and trends. Students will develop a broad understanding of fashion communication across print, digital and visual platforms. The role of London as a global media and creative capital is central to examining how fashion narratives are created and distributed.

Week 4: The Future of Fashion 

The final week looks ahead to the future of the fashion industry. Seminars and guest lectures address sustainability, technology and evolving career pathways in the fashion industry. Students will receive detailed support in career pathways and future opportunities within the fashion industry. The week culminates in the Capstone Innovation Brand Project presented to Condé Nast and Vogue experts.

Site Visits

As part of Vogue Summer Program: Fashion Business, students will participate in curated site visits that bring London’s dynamic fashion landscape to life. These visits may include:

  • Behind-the-scenes tours of iconic luxury retailers
  • Exploration of historic fashion districts such as Bond Street and Savile Row
  • Visits to celebrated British heritage brands
  • Designer studio and atelier tours

Guest Lectures

Accreditation

Vogue Summer Program: Fashion Business is accredited for 4 U.S. semester credits. Students will be asked to indicate in Week 1 whether they wish to obtain an official transcript for this course.
