Hailing from New York City, Stephen J. Cucci has carved out an indelible presence in the fashion world.
As the Creative Director of STITCHbySJC Designs, his celebrated freelance design house, Stephen is revered for his innovative, boundary-breaking work that bridges artistry with intention.
With over 20 years of experience, Stephen has lent his talents as a stylist and creative director across editorial, theater, and film/TV, delivering unforgettable visual narratives that captivate and inspire. His multidisciplinary expertise has brought him to the forefront of major campaigns, runway presentations, and iconic productions.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with and contributed to some of the industry’s most prominent names, including BCBG Max Azria, Giorgio Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Sergio Hudson, Puma, Ulla Johnson, Khaite, Calvin Klein, SKIMS, and many more.
Stephen’s academic journey includes studying Fashion Design at the prestigious Polimoda in Florence, Italy—further refining his aesthetic and deepening his global design perspective.
He currently serves as a Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, teaching across the Fashion Business, Fashion Design, Fabric Styling, and Fashion Styling departments. In addition, he is the Lead Instructor for the International Fashion Styling Program, where he mentors and develops emerging global talent.
A fixture behind the scenes of New York Fashion Week, as well as numerous live events, print editorials, theater productions, and film/TV projects, Stephen is known for his flawless execution and eye for emotionally resonant design. He also leads global design training workshops, fostering creativity and innovation in emerging markets around the world.
At the heart of his work is a belief in the power of fashion as storytelling. His guiding quote: “Perfection does not excite, but greatness does.” And his daily mantra: “Let the sunshine.”
