This course is an introduction to fashion business and provides overall insight into the key creative practices of the fashion industry including marketing, branding, and promotion, considering how they interconnect with business direction and strategy.

Students will explore the different career opportunities and learn about a wide range of topics including developing a brand identity, standing out in the marketplace, and understanding your customer base, all the while looking at these subjects from multiple industry perspectives. Students will also consider the key influences on fashion and identify wider trends that shape the industry and learn about the future of fashion and their own place within it.

Course Topics

Students will learn from fashion academics, industry experts and Vogue staff. They will also work in small teams to produce a business concept suitable to pitch to industry.

  • Beauty and Fragrance
  • Retail and Distribution

Site Visits

Visits will include a combination of trips to major New York City art museums and galleries, as well as designers’ studios and other places related to fashion, including the esteemed Vogue HQ.

Site visits may include:

  • Vogue HQ
  • Spring Studios
  • The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Brooklyn Museum
  • Museum of Arts and Design
  • Flagship stores along the Garment District on Fifth Avenue
  • Boutiques in fashion districts such as Williamsburg, Bushwick, Chelsea,
  • East Village and Noho
  • Designer studios and atelier

Guest Speakers

Students will hear firsthand from fashion industry experts and fashion business professionals about the topics that shape our understanding of the fashion, media and luxury lifestyle industries.

Guest speakers may include:

  • Fashion designers and entrepreneurs
  • Fashion industry professionals in a variety of roles
  • Fashion critics and journalists
  • Museum curators and educators

Admissions

Vogue Summer School is open to high school students (grades 10-12 and Graduating Seniors based on the grade the student is entering in the Fall 2025 school year). Students must be 15 years old by the first day of their term. All students applying to Vogue Summer School for the first time are required to complete an online application. Returning students do not need to reapply. Our online application can be completed in a few basic steps. As students work through their application, they may save their progress and return to the application before final submission.

Residential Program

Students live in dorm-like facilities in Lower Manhattan.

Day Program

Students commute to campus and do not receive room and board.

Students who enroll in multiple terms are eligible for a $500 discount on each term.

Flexible payment plans are available to all families.

*Materials Fees cover activities, equipment, and other instructional materials. Program fees do not include health insurance. All students are required to have their own health insurance coverage.
