Through the program, she sharpened her creative skills and gained insights that she brought directly into her role. The course not only reignited her passion for her craft but also empowered her to see new possibilities for growth and innovation in her career.
Could you share a little about your background and current work?
I’m a writer living in Toronto, and I’m currently the creative lead at Canadian denim brand Silver Jeans Co. My work involves creative direction and communications, both with our agency partners and within our internal team.
I’ve worked as a journalist in the past but made a pivot to focus on fashion and marketing a few years ago. At times, I’ve felt like these two worlds couldn’t intersect, but the Fashion Branding & Communication course showed me that my skills and expertise as a journalist are tools that can be beneficial to my current career.
What made you choose Vogue College of Fashion for your studies?
I was drawn to Vogue College of Fashion both because of the name recognition of the school and the great reviews I read online. I was impressed by the course faculty and curricula.
Which course did you enroll in and why?
I enrolled in Vogue Fashion Branding & Communication because I wanted to learn more about the quickly changing environments within marketing, specifically digital marketing.
What was your experience like participating in the course?
In one word: fantastic. I loved this course, and that’s in large part due to our course leader. She set the tone from day one; it was a welcoming creative space where we were encouraged to look within while simultaneously looking out at the world.
I was instantly inspired by the course materials and tasks. This course renewed my passion for my career and has inspired me to keep pushing for my dreams.
Can you share an example of an assignment that you particularly enjoyed?
My favorite assignment was creating a photo essay inspired by Nuit Blanche, Toronto’s all-night contemporary art festival. I loved the freedom to explore the intersection of art, culture and storytelling in real time.
It pushed me to think visually and conceptually, capturing not just what was happening, but how it felt to experience art that transforms the city overnight. It reminded me how powerful creative direction can be when it’s rooted in observation and emotion, not just aesthetics.
How has the program contributed to your growth, either professionally or academically?
I took this course at a time when I was feeling a bit creatively stunted and uninspired, and it changed the trajectory of my perspective.
The course leader’s wisdom, curriculum and incredible dedication to her students reignited my passion. I was able to break out of my rut and visualize a better future for myself—one that is not only attainable, but also full of inspiration and growth.
