Why did you decide to enroll in Vogue Summer School?
I decided to enroll after hearing about the program from friends who had gone the previous year. They were all so happy about their experience and it seemed like a total dream. I thought it was a perfect opportunity for me to explore the fashion world and meet friends with the same interests.
Which course did you enroll in and why?
I enrolled in the Fashion Styling course because I was most interested in exploring this area of fashion and discovering potential careers in styling. In a way, I felt like Fashion Styling chose me. I was immediately hooked after reading about the course and didn’t doubt my choice for a second.
What significance does studying in New York City hold for you, and what was the most interesting thing you learned or experienced during your time there?
New York has a special and unique energy that’s impossible to describe with words. Besides being one of the world’s fashion capitals, it’s simply a magical place—the places, the people, the experiences.
Studying in New York gives you thousands of opportunities that you wouldn’t receive elsewhere. I feel such gratitude for the city that welcomed me with open arms and embraced me completely.
Describe your favorite day of the program. Where did you go and who did you meet?
My favorite day was the final project shoot at One World Trade Center. Putting together everything we’d been working on for two weeks was so rewarding.
The set, photographer, model, makeup artist and entire team came together to turn our idea into reality. The last-minute decision making, excitement and nerves all combined was the best feeling.
What was your day-to-day experience like?
Every day of the program I met amazing people and made great memories with new friends. From after-class activities with our LLCs (Living Learning Communities) to exploring local neighborhoods and landmarks like SoHo, the Lower East Side and Brooklyn Bridge, the shared experiences were endless.
It was also incredible hear from such experienced personalities in the industry and get the chance to ask them questions and learn from them.
During the program I received the best homework I could ask for—fashion homework. I enjoyed sharing my ideas with my classmates and hearing their feedback and perspectives.
How did your experience at Vogue Summer School influence your perspective on your future studies or career path?
I took the course to discover which aspect of fashion I was most passionate about. I knew I wanted to study fashion in the future, but I wasn’t sure which area of the industry would be for me. The program ultimately helped me decide what fashion career I want to pursue.
What is your advice for future Vogue Summer School students?
My advice is to enjoy every second and be present in the moment. Don’t be afraid to express your opinions and points of view, make friends and ask questions. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Good luck! Remember that creativity is everywhere.
