If we think of places where fashion is truly cutting-edge, an airport probably wouldn’t make the top ten; but, dear friend, that’s only because you haven’t traveled with Vogue College of Fashion. Seven in the morning, Madrid airport, and killer looks everywhere. And for good reason: we were headed to one of the world’s leading fashion capitals.

Students from the Vogue Master’s in International Luxury Business and the Vogue Master’s in Fashion and Beauty Business Management traveled to Milan on May 12 and 13 to gain a new dimension in their education. Through a series of activities designed to help them understand the history of some of the most representative pillars of Italian fashion, Milan became a dynamic classroom filled with lessons to be learned. Ready to join us on this journey?

Swimming in a Sea of Color with La DoubleJ

We landed in Milan and, coffee in hand—because fashion never sleeps and neither do we—headed straight to the first activity of the day: the La DoubleJ showroom. A safari of vibrant prints, bold colors, and pure dynamism surrounds us, and we quickly understand why industry insiders insist this brand offers the happiest designs in all of Milan, both in fashion and homeware.

Every inch of the showroom breathed luxury, exclusivity, and an aura instantly recognizable as true to the brand’s values. In this industry, nothing is done by chance—and that’s exactly what the students came to experience firsthand. At the top of La DoubleJ’s offices, in a beautiful penthouse overlooking the Milan skyline—where yoga classes are also held—Serena Pederiva, Chief Marketing Officer of La DoubleJ, welcomed us with open arms to share the brand’s vision and answer all of the students’ questions.

An Intimate Encounter with Alberta Ferretti

After immersing ourselves in the multifaceted, colorful universe of La DoubleJ, it was time for one of the most anticipated moments of the trip. One of the most iconic figures in Italian fashion was waiting for us in her showroom.

We’re talking about none other than Alberta Ferretti: a designer who defined an entire generation of Italian women with her sensual, feminine, elegant, and romantic aesthetic; and a businesswoman who co-founded the Aeffe Group alongside her brother, Massimo Ferretti.

Alberta is one of those commanding figures who shone during the golden age of Italian design. Her creations stood shoulder to shoulder with those of contemporaries such as Donatella Versace and Miuccia Prada. After walking us through her professional journey, Alberta Ferretti opened the floor to a Q&A session, giving students the chance to get to know her more personally and have their questions answered.

Fondazione Sozzani: A Story That Goes Far Beyond Fashion

Few surnames carry as much weight in the Italian fashion industry as Sozzani, so we couldn’t leave Italy without connecting with it.
We woke up in the heart of Milan to face the second and final day of the trip. The students, glowing after a free afternoon enjoying Milanese pleasures—gastronomy, great weather, and luxury shopping—were ready to uncover the secrets of a foundation that is history, culture, and, above all, fashion.

Fondazione Sozzani, like many Italian luxury empires, is a family affair. The project was founded by Sara Sozzani (daughter of Carla Sozzani), Carla herself—sister of Franca Sozzani, one of the most legendary fashion editors and the driving force behind Vogue Italia for nearly 30 years—and American painter and sculptor Kris Ruhs. The foundation preserves works related to fashion, design, and contemporary art.

Matteo Famá, Project Manager of Fondazione Sozzani, welcomed us into the space and explained the philosophy behind the program. And that wasn’t all: the foundation granted us access to a selection of exclusive pieces from the Sozzani archive. Students were able to admire garments from 2014 by Comme des Garçons and Azzedine Alaïa.

The Creative Universe of 10 Corso Como

We remain within the Sozzani orbit, but this time we step into the creative mind of Carla Sozzani herself. In 1990, Carla created 10 Corso Como under a visionary concept that went far beyond fashion: gallery, bookstore, hotel, and restaurant, all in one.

Martina Ghelarducci, PR & Communications at 10 Corso Como, guided us through this creative cosmos filled with multifaceted brands from around the world. From the most niche labels to the most established names, 10 Corso Como continues to honor Carla’s original vision, now infused with a more contemporary spirit.

Armani/Silos: An Ode to Haute Couture

We closed the trip on a high note with a tribute to Giorgio Armani’s Haute Couture. Armani/Silos, a building designed by Giorgio Armani himself to honor his brand—one of Italy’s most significant luxury houses—brings together a collection of 150 looks worn by some of the most iconic celebrities between 2005 and 2025.

This selection, personally curated by Giorgio Armani, highlights the exceptional craftsmanship of the Armani ateliers, with exquisite pieces that could easily be considered works of art, and underscores the philosophy of “Made in Italy,” so essential within the fashion landscape.
