The Maison of Jean Paul Gaultier: Legacy, Vision, and Evolution
On February 24, students of the Vogue Master’s in Fashion and Beauty Communication began two intensive days in Paris, accompanied by their tutors: Carlos Puig (photographer and professor) and Nuala Phillips, Fashion Features Director at Vogue Spain.
Their visit to the maison of Jean Paul Gaultier offered insight into how a fashion house sustains a strong creative universe while continuing to evolve. Visual coherence, identity, and narrative construction defined this first direct encounter with the industry.

Azzedine Alaïa and Christian Dior at the Fondation Alaïa
At the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa, students explored the dialogue between Alaïa and Christian Dior through the remarkable collection of nearly 600 vintage Dior pieces that the Tunisian designer assembled over his lifetime.
The exhibition highlighted Dior’s architectural approach to construction—garments that, as Alaïa famously noted, seemed to “stand on their own.” More than a retrospective, it was a study in silhouette, proportion, and the enduring relevance of couture craftsmanship within fashion history.
Les Ateliers de Paris: Craft and Contemporary Creation
On the second day, students visited Les Ateliers de Paris (28 rue Faidherbe), a platform supporting contemporary designers and artisans.
During a talk with Bosco Tamames, co-founder and co–creative director of Boscoier, alongside Oier Gil Mendizabal, discussions centered on authorship, territory, and process. Fashion emerged not merely as product, but as material culture and constructed identity.
The visit concluded with textile artist Julie Percillier, whose embroidered works demonstrate that craftsmanship is not nostalgic—it is a living, evolving creative language.

At the Galerie Dior: Exploring the Archive of One of the 20th Century’s Most Influential Designers
At the Galerie Dior, students walked through the creative universe of Christian Dior in an immersive and rigorously curated setting.
Iconic garments, sketches, and scenographic installations revealed how archive becomes experience. In contemporary fashion, memory is not static—it actively shapes the present.

Learning from Within
To work in fashion and beauty communication today is to navigate culture, image, and strategy simultaneously. At vogue college, that proximity to the industry is not an addition to the curriculum—it is its foundation.
