The students from the sixth edition of the Vogue Diploma in Fashion Law recently enjoyed an exceptional experience: a private visit to Loewe’s factory in Getafe, Spain. Bárbara Rivas Maroño shares her personal account of this unforgettable day, organized by the academic team and guided by two key figures in the fashion and legal industries.

The unseen process behind luxury

The visit offered us a close look at the intricate and meticulous process behind every Loewe creation. From the internal structure and choice of premium materials to extreme testing simulations replicating heat, humidity, and ten years of wear, every piece undergoes rigorous quality controls. Loewe ensures its products are not only beautiful but built to last.

A living archive

One of the most moving moments came in the area dedicated to handbag restoration—a true living archive of the maison’s savoir-faire. We observed iconic designs like the Amazona, the Puzzle, and even a crocodile leather handbag over 40 years old. These pieces reflect Loewe’s enduring legacy and its ability to craft objects passed down through generations.

A signature experience

To close the visit, each student had the opportunity to emboss Loewe’s iconic seal onto a genuine piece of leather—the very same used in their bags. This symbolic gesture captured the essence of hands-on learning and the tactile connection between education and luxury craftsmanship.

Understanding luxury through a legal lens

The visit was led by two key professionals: Isabel Antón, a Doctor of Law and Director of the Vogue Diploma in Fashion Law, and Jaime López de Villarreal, Loewe’s Global Legal Director and faculty member of the program. His participation provided a privileged perspective on the legal frameworks that govern luxury fashion houses. As both host and educator, his presence offered the students an inspiring blend of theory and real-world insight.
