Could you share a little about your background and current work?

Until last year, I worked in buying for a renowned luxury fashion company in Hamburg, where I gained deep insights into brand curation and the high-end fashion market. After leaving my role in buying, I decided to start my own business in order to explore fashion and creativity more independently.

In February 2025, I published my first book The Style Journal – Discovering Personal Style, which combines guidance, inspiration and interactive journaling. Since then, I’ve been working on various creative projects, ranging from styling services to editorial content. I’m also currently exploring artificial intelligence (AI) as future tools for creative direction.

What made you choose Vogue College of Fashion for your studies?

Vogue College of Fashion has always represented the intersection of creativity, innovation and editorial excellence. I wanted to study in an environment that not only teaches theory but also provides direct insights into the editorial process and connects students with the wider industry.

For me, it was particularly important to learn how to translate creative ideas into strong narratives and visual strategies that resonate on an international level. Vogue College felt like the perfect place to bridge my background in styling, writing and content creation with a more editorial and future-oriented perspective.

Which course did you enroll in and why?

I enrolled in Vogue’s 5 Days of Creative Direction course because I wanted to refine my ability to create visual concepts and cohesive narratives that go beyond styling and product presentation. With my recent shift into self-employment, the launch of my book and my growing interest in AI, I saw this course as the perfect opportunity to strengthen my editorial skills and develop a professional framework for future projects.

Describe your favorite day of the program. Where did you go, who did you meet?

On my favorite day of the program, we had the chance to meet Creative Director, Photographer and Designer Robin Derrick. It was incredibly inspiring to get a first-hand look into the world of a creative director through his experiences and perspective.

What fascinated me most was his emphasis on the importance of having an opinion. He shared that, early in his career, he gave himself the daily task of forming an opinion on something—an essential skill for a creative director.

His point was that if you can clearly envision an idea, you’re able to communicate it to others. That insight resonated with me and has stayed with me as a key takeaway from the program.

What was your day-to-day experience like?

The program offered a very enjoyable mix of absorbing information and inspiration while also being encouraged to create. I particularly liked that we were given a personal creative project to work on throughout the week, as it allowed us to constantly reflect, develop ideas and see our progress evolve.

It was fascinating to observe how differently everyone approached the same task of developing a creative concept for a chosen brand. While many of my classmates started by cutting out images, fonts and moods from magazines, I initially took more time to absorb, reflect and process.

What struck me most was seeing how individual our creative processes are, and how each approach—whether immediate action or slower reflection—can lead to strong results. This diversity of perspectives made the day-to-day experience both inspiring and enriching.

How has the program contributed to your growth, either professionally or academically?

Professionally, the program has given me a more structured framework for developing editorial concepts and communicating ideas with clarity. I now feel more confident in translating abstract inspiration into tangible narratives and visual strategies—a skill I can directly apply to my styling, writing and creative direction projects.

On a personal level, it pushed me to trust my own creative process more deeply. By working on an individual concept throughout the week, I realized that allowing space for reflection can be just as powerful as acting quickly.

The course also broadened my understanding of the editorial landscape and provided valuable insights into what it truly means to think like a creative director. It not only gave me new tools but also a renewed sense of confidence in pursuing my next steps in this field.
