How does the Career Services team in London support students as they navigate the fashion world?

As Head of Careers, I bring four decades of experience at Vogue, providing personalized guidance to help each student discover the right career path. Career support is embedded throughout all our courses to develop confidence, professionalism and transferable skills.

I work closely with students through one‑to‑one sessions, tailored advice and access to the Vogue College professional network, making sure they feel supported and industry ready at every stage. We always encourage students to stay curious and say yes to opportunities when they come up.

Through career days, interactive workshops and masterclasses, students get practical support refining resumes and strengthening cover letters, portfolios and LinkedIn profiles, alongside regular networking events and personalized industry placements.

Our main goal is to help students leverage their skill set and equip them with the professional, creative and “power” skills needed to succeed in fashion, beauty, media and related fields.

Career outcomes are central to our vocational approach, with strong emphasis on real‑world experience and personalized career development. Each year, students can attend the Vogue Fashion & Beauty Careers Forum where they have a chance to network with top industry leaders and recruiters.

London’s fashion and cultural sectors evolve rapidly. How do you help students identify new, emerging and cross‑disciplinary career opportunities within this landscape?

Students regularly engage with leading industry professionals through our Vogue College Presents guest speaker series and exclusive collaborative industry projects to ensure they identify emerging trends and understand where the industry is heading.

There are now so many opportunities at the intersection of fashion and music, film, sport, hospitality, events and travel and we focus on identifying where each student’s interests lie.

Each student is entitled to one‑to‑one sessions per term and encouraged to explore and lean into their passions. There is so much cross‑pollination across the creative industries to explore.

We encourage cross‑disciplinary thinking and emphasize the importance of agility and adaptability to the changing nature of job roles so students are ready to position themselves in the ever‑changing fashion landscape.

What role does the international alumni network play in helping students and recent graduates access opportunities?

We have a thriving alumni community and they play a vital, multi‑faceted role for current students, forming the link between education and industry. They are often the first professional connection our students build in their network which enables access to brands, sharing opportunities for internships and jobs where hiring is often based on relationships, which is especially valuable.

Alumni return as guest lecturers, mentors and panelists and help students understand current industry expectations. They hire or recommend Vogue College students because they know and trust the education and experience.

They also support live industry collaborations with brands. Their input keeps teaching aligned with current industry practice.

The Vogue College Presents series brings leading figures from media and the wider fashion industry to campus three times per term. How does this initiative support students in building meaningful professional networks and gaining insight into real‑world career pathways?

Our exclusive Vogue College Presents speaker series gives students a front‑row seat to hear from top industry leaders. Our students have a unique opportunity three times per semester to network and gain insight into roles across all areas of fashion and related creative industries.

We also host regular Vogue College Presents Symposiums where industry experts discuss, analyze and exchange ideas on relevant topics with our students.

How has your own career journey influenced your approach to guiding students as they identify career paths aligned with their strengths and ambitions?

My journey has been central to supporting and guiding students, having spent a decade as Bookings Editor at British Vogue, being part of the launch team for Easy Living and helping establish Vogue College in 2013.

I have built an extensive network at the highest level of the fashion industry alongside relevant first‑hand experience. I maintain a wide‑ranging and influential book of industry contacts which I draw on to create placement and job opportunities for students.

What skills and qualities do you find most in demand for graduates entering fashion, luxury and media roles today?

Communication and storytelling skills are essential, along with critical thinking, data and AI literacy and creative direction using AI. Skills in marketing data analysis, content strategy and social media creative production are also key, as well as experience in event and customer experience production.

Above all, adaptability matters. Employers look for the ability to apply technology and AI in new and disruptive ways while also bringing an entrepreneurial mindset.

How does the Career Services team collaborate with faculty to ensure that students receive comprehensive career guidance alongside their academic studies?

We ensure our students receive personalized career support and guidance. Career Services is embedded in the curriculum.

If you could offer one piece of career advice to incoming students, what would it be?

Get as much work experience as you can and be your authentic self, lean into your passions, be eternally curious and build your network.
