Passionate about her craft but eager to push creative boundaries, Ayushi joined Vogue College of Fashion’s 5 Days of Fashion Styling course to upskill and stay ahead in the ever-evolving fashion industry. She discussed how her journey reflects a deep belief that in fashion, growth is the only constant.
Unlocking Creativity and Pushing Boundaries
In fashion styling, creativity never sleeps, and neither should your learning! After seven years in the industry and working as a senior stylist at Powerweave Studio (India), I thought I had seen it all. Every day, I worked with top brands, stunning models, art directors and videographers. It was fast-paced, exciting and creatively fulfilling—yet something was missing. I needed a fresh perspective, a creative jolt. So, I did something bold—I enrolled at Vogue College of Fashion and let me tell you, it was game-changing!
The 5 Days of Fashion Styling course was like stepping into a new world. It wasn’t just about learning; it was about unlocking creativity in ways I hadn’t imagined. I realized that inspiration is everywhere—once you open your eyes to it, a whole new level of styling magic unfolds. Every day became a challenge to think bigger, style better and push my artistic boundaries.
One of my biggest takeaways was a complete mindset shift. We all scroll through Pinterest for ideas but at Vogue College, we didn’t borrow ideas—we built them. We were trained to dig deeper, to create, not just curate. That lesson revolutionized my approach to editorial and magazine shoots.
Inside the Hands-On World of Fashion Styling
This wasn’t a sit-in-a-classroom-and-take-notes kind of course. It was hands-on, fast-paced and immersive. From curating a menswear lookbook to styling celebrities and personal clients, every task was a new adventure. We brainstormed, built mood boards and even executed full-scale editorial shoots. And the best part? Learning from industry-renowned experts who live and breathe fashion every day.
One of my favorite projects during the course was creating a cover for an issue of Vogue. It allowed me to tap into my creative instincts while applying the practical knowledge we gained over the five days. From building a cohesive visual story to refining layouts and aligning my vision with the brand’s aesthetics, the project challenged me in the best way possible. It was incredibly rewarding to translate my personal experience and learning into a polished editorial piece that reflects my point of view as a stylist.
A standout moment for me was experiencing Vogue: Inventing the Runway. It was a surreal experience that reaffirmed my passion for fashion. I stood there taking it all in and realizing I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be—surrounded by the best minds in fashion, growing, evolving and creating.
Translating New Skills into Creative Direction
The course helped me improve my editorial storytelling and taught me how to plan and present ideas with a more creative approach. These skills are very useful in my role at Powerweave Studio, where I work on both e-commerce and editorial projects. I now plan shoots with a clearer vision and a better understanding of how to align with each brand’s style. This has added more creativity and depth to my work as a senior stylist.
Would I recommend this course? A thousand times, yes! It’s more than just upskilling—it’s a confidence booster, a creativity awakener and a career accelerator. If you’re in fashion (or any creative field), stepping out of your comfort zone is the best investment you can make in yourself.
Here’s my advice—never stop learning, never stop pushing yourself and most importantly, never settle. Because in fashion, just like in life, the best styles come from daring to be different!
