MA Degrees (Fashion Media Portfolio)

The following requirements are for the MA degrees:

  • MA Creative Direction for Fashion Media
  • MA Fashion Journalism & Editorial Direction

Academic Entry Requirements

UK applicants should ideally hold an undergraduate degree at a 2.2 classification or above in a related subject. However, applicants with an undergraduate degree in an unrelated subject who can demonstrate a commitment to and an understanding of the course subject are strongly encouraged to apply.

International applicants should hold qualifications equivalent to an international undergraduate degree that is equivalent to a 2.2 classification or above in a related subject. Required Documentation

All prospective applicants must apply using the online application. A complete application includes:

  • Academic transcripts/mark sheets: from all undergraduate and post-graduate academic institutions attended
    • Unofficial copies of transcripts are sufficient for the application process and for issuing decisions. Diplomas are not accepted as a substitute for a transcript/mark sheet  
    • Final Official Transcripts are required prior to enrolment (or CAS issuance for Student Route Visa applicants). Documents are only considered Final and Official when received directly from the awarding institution and list the conferral date. Official transcripts can be sent to admissions@voguecollege.com

English Language Requirements

International applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency at Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Level B2 and test results certificates must accompany applications, such as:

Multinational Qualifications

  • IELTS Academic for UKVI Level 6.5 or above, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component and are only valid for two years after the date of your exam
  • TOEFL (IBT) with a 72 overall with 18 in Reading, 17 in Writing, 17 in Listening and 20 in Speaking are only valid for two years after the date of your exam
  • Pearson PTE (Academic) with a 59 overall and in all components
  • Cambridge Advanced (CAE/C1 Advanced) and Cambridge Proficiency (CPE/C2 Proficiency) with a CEFR B2 overall and in all components on the Cambridge English Scale Score (160-179)
  • KITE – Kaplan International Tools for English with 426 overall and including 426 in Reading and Writing and 425 in Speaking and Listening
  • Password Skills Test, including tests administered by NCUK or INT with a 6.5 overall and in all components
  • Degree awarded by a UK University but taught overseas, or via distance learning – Pass. The certificate or transcript must confirm the course is taught / delivered in English. In lieu a letter from the provider confirming the course is delivered in English can be accepted

Pre-Sessional English, Pre-Master’s Programmes

  • English within a Pre-Sessional English, Pre-Master’s programme from another UK HEI or a major private provider – CEFR B2 in all components. Considered on a case-by-case basis

Secure English Language Tests

  • LanguageCert International ESOL SELT – B2 Communicator with Pass overall and a minimum of 33 in all components
  • Pearson PTE Academic UKVI or Pearson PTE Home with a 59 overall and in all components
  • PSI Services Skills for English UKVI with CEFR B2 overall and in all components
  • SELT IELTS for UKVI or SELT IELTS Life Skill with 6.5 overall and in all components
  • Trinity College London: Secure English Language Tests for UKVI – Integrated Skills in English (ISE) or Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE)
  • with CEFR B2 overall and in all components

Please note if you are from, or completed an undergraduate degree in, an English-speaking country, you may be exempt from the need to provide additional evidence of your English language ability. Please visit gov.uk section 4.1 – Majority English speaking country for detailed guidance on this.

Age Requirement

You need to be aged 18 on 01 September at the start of the academic year in which your chosen course starts.

Portfolio Guidelines

The following Master’s Programmes require you to submit a portfolio:

  • MA Creative Direction for Fashion Media
  • MA Fashion Journalism & Editorial Direction

You are required to submit a digital portfolio showcasing your creative prowess and intellectual acumen. Portfolios should include:

  • Two written pieces (600-800 words) on a relevant fashion or media topic. You may submit an existing piece of writing on any subject, or a new piece covering one of the following fashion and media topics:
    • Fashion Shows: Their relevance today and their future in a more sustainable eraDo they belong to the past? Is it a still a valid way to promote and show fashion? What could be the future of the show for a more sustainable era?
    • The role and purpose of print magazines in 2024/25 What purpose does a print magazine serve in the modern world?
  • Two creative pieces e.g. photography, videography, styling, creative writing, or illustration.

Your portfolio is required to be submitted as one PDF document. We also accept web, blog, or video portfolios; if your portfolio is not in a standard PDF format, please include a document with a link to the relevant portfolio format as part of the application. The portfolio should demonstrate intellectual and creative abilities, originality, and a commitment to fashion, media, and luxury lifestyle.

Applicants without an existing creative portfolio should create a visual moodboard for a fashion shoot, explaining their creative vision. We also accept web, blog, or video portfolios, provided you include a link in your application. Applicants should submit work that they feel is reflective of their creative vision and future academic and professional goals. This is the place in the application where you should feel free to be as creative as possible.

Personal Statement

Our Fashion Media portfolio of postgraduate programmes also require you to submit a 500-word personal statement as part of your application outlining your interest in the programme, Vogue College of Fashion, and how you envision this course supporting your future career goals.

Reference letters and Curriculum vitae or résumé

Two references from an academic or professional contact. Candidates who graduated more than 2 years prior to applying may present two professional references if they are no longer in contact with the faculty at their undergraduate institution. A current curriculum vitae which includes short written summary of the applicants career, qualifications, and education.

Application Review

Once the admissions team has received your admissions application and supplemental materials, we will begin reviewing your application.

After we’ve reviewed your application, you may be invited to a 20-30 minute online interview with a member of our faculty. The interview process will also be an opportunity for you to learn more about your intended programme and the Vogue College of Fashion Community.

Following your interview, we will be in touch with an admissions decision within two working days.

Application Fee

A nonrefundable fee of £75 (GBP) is required to submit an online application. Applications will not be assessed until they have been submitted through the online form.
